“Politician’s Pornstar Wife” Costs Husband His Job

Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Scott Janke says he was fired Tuesday night because the town council learned that his wife is a well-known porn star (Jazella Moore).

A Web site that follows the adult industry published an article last week entitled “Politician’s Pornstar Wife.”

In it, the Adult Industry News said Anabela Mota Janke is the porn star known as Jazella Moore.

The town council held a special meeting Tuesday night after getting calls from media outlets across the country. They fired Janke for what one council member called ‘the good of their constituency.’

The council determined Janke’s credibility and ability to do his job would be undermined when news of his wife’s profession came to light.

“What we didn’t think would be appropriate was to allow the distraction of this to enter the projects and small staff. It’s our job to keep things on course and focused,” said Mayor Larry Kiker.

The council voted unanimously to fire Janke.

The town attorney was present at the meeting and said the firing was done legally.

While the site calls Scott Janke a “politician,” his position as town manager was not an elected office.

He was appointed by the council.

It’s unclear if the town council sought public input before voting to fire Janke, but the vast majority of residents WBBH spoke with say the firing was a mistake.

Most say if Janke were the porn star that would be a concern, but his wife’s profession shouldn’t impact the town’s credibility.

Janke, 55, and Mota, 43, were married in October 2008 on Fort Myers Beach.

AIN said she had been doing adult movies while living in the Boston area before the marriage.

Moore is featured in scores of pornographic movies and Web sites, and AIN says she is working as an adult actress on a regular basis.

The couple says they’re doing well and staying positive while trying to figure out what to do next.

Janke started as town manager in March of this year, and has previous experience in the same role in Marathon, Florida and in several Alaska communities.

His performance evaluation with Fort Myers Beach was targeted for completion on August 13th.
As severance, Janke gets six months of pay and health benefits.
His salary was just over $100,000 per year.
