Porn star Sasha Grey continues her crossover trajectory from the adult industry to mainstream entertainment with a new role in a movie called “Skinny Dip.” Grey, who played a call girl in Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience” and scored a recurring role on “Entourage,” takes the lead role in “a revenge story involving a young woman and a policeman,” Movieline reports. The film is directed by Frankie Latina and costars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriquez, and Eric Roberts. It seems entirely possible that in the not-too-distant future, the line between “mainstream movies” and “porn” will cease to exist and NC-17 ratings will become a thing of the past. LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Sasha Grey, the adult-film star who headlined Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience,” is in negotiations to join the cast of “I Melt With You,” a low-budget drama featuring Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven.

The story follows a group of college buddies (Jane, Lowe and Piven) who, now as adults, look within themselves and find emptiness when they have their annual summer reunion. They resurrect a pact they vowed to live, die and kill by.

Grey will play a character named Raven, described as a free spirit who helps one of the men realise that nirvana can only be achieved by death.

Mark Pellington (“Arlington Road”) will direct from a script he wrote with Glen Porter. Shooting begins in northern California next month.

Also on board are Zander Eckhouse (“Huge”) as Grey’s idealistic writer boyfriend, Abhi Sinha as a medical student, and Areielle Kebbel as a young hostess.

A witness told RadarOnline.com: “Jessica looked great in a figure hugging outfit and green jacket she seemed to be having a really good time and enjoying herself.

“In between takes she and some of the cast happily posed for fans who wanted to take pictures of them and to get some autographs – the atmosphere was very relaxed throughout.”

In the new series Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) falls for Grey after the pair meet in a bar and a relationship forms between them.
The plot twist was inspired by Charlie Sheen’s affair with famous X-rated actress Ginger Lynn in the 1990’s.

Gray has already gone mainstream after she starred in Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience and Entourage creator Doug Ellin’s is reportedly a big fan of her work.

Grey, who is from Sacramento, California, claims to have had her first sexual experience at 16 before deciding to move to Los Angeles to become an adult performer – she starred in her first movie aged 18 and has won several awards for her performances from the porn industry in recent years.

“I think Sasha’s going to have a very successful transition,” says Entourage creator Doug Ellin, who was impressed by the performer’s leading role in Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s 2009 film, “The Girlfriend Experience.”

This is one of the few times that an established TV show has taken a chance on hiring an adult film actor since 1995, when the original Melrose Place made waves by hiring XXX vet Traci Lords for a recurring role. “Sasha’s the biggest porn star in the world right now, and when Soderbergh casts her as the lead of his movie, I take notice,” Ellin explains a casting decision that was met with unanimous approval by his male cast. “I wouldn’t have done this storyline if Sasha passed. Luckily she was okay with doing it.”

Inspired by Charlie Sheen’s relationship with porn actress Ginger Lynn in the late 90’s at the height of his film career, Ellin believes Sasha’s got all it takes to play the perfect girl for movie star Vince Chase. “You can’t believe she’s a porn star when you meet her,” he says of Sasha, who will meet Vince in a bar in the new season’s fifth episode and stick around for the remainder of the season – possibly returning next year for the show’s eighth and final season. “I think they’re going to have a very interesting relationship.“

After initially “discovering” Sasha Grey in Los Angeles Magazine, veteran director Steven Soderbergh was determined to hire the X-rated film star to play her first mainstream role: a high-class NYC hooker in his new drama “The Girlfriend Experience.” But oddly enough, Gray didn’t have to bare too much of her body or even do a sex scene.

“Steven never really said if there was going to be a sex or scene or not, but in the outline it did say for three different scenes, “Sex Scene with Chris,” “Sex Scene with Client B,” “Sex Scene with the Hobbyist.” I never really knew,” Gray recently told us. “But I knew he (Soderbergh) wouldn’t have a sex scene for the sake of sex.”

Soderbergh later told Tarts that he looked closely at the script, but decided “it wasn’t necessary.” But even despite her rave reviews in her first non-adult film, Gray is far from parting from her porn ways.

“It is great to do both, it’s unprecedented that a woman from the adult industry has been able to really juggle both at the same time,” the 21-year-old said. “If people enjoy what I do outside of adult films, there is room for growth and opportunity. I don’t think ill be playing Zac Efron’s girlfriend in anything soon or be cast in a teen movie but I’m okay with that. At the moment I’m actually shooting my directorial debut in the adult world.”

And is Academy-Award winning Soderbergh, who has directed/written/produced over 30 films in his 20-year career, getting ready to retire?

“I have a few more issues to explore on the checklist for the next five years and then I might be done,” he admitted to Tarts. “I can feel myself running out of ideas.”

That’s the predicament that adult film star Sasha Grey found herself in after being cast to star in the latest film from acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh called THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. The213.net recently got a chance to sit down with Grey to talk all about working with Soderbergh, her research for the role and what the future holds in terms of both adult and mainstream films.

213): What did you know about Steven Soderbergh before you started shooting The Girlfriend Experience?

Sasha Grey: I knew I was a fan! My first meeting was really exciting and I felt like a bumbling little kid. It was a forty-five minute meeting at the Warner Bros. office and it wasn’t a traditional audition of casting session or anything like that. We just talked about The Girlfriend Experience and where he wanted to go with it.

(213): Did you get a chance to interview any real life high-end escorts and how did that inform your performance?
Sasha Grey: I met two, but interestingly enough the two women that I met their real life tendencies played heavily in the film and that came more from Steven’s end of things. The personality books – one of the women we met really does screen her clients like that. The fact that she buys prepaid phones, one of the women was very paranoid and she doesn’t take her ID, her personal information, nothing with her, but she does buy prepaid phones. The whole writing in her diary about what the date was like, one of the women did that because her whole idea behind that is that if she’s really supposed to care about these guys but she has a long list of them she has to remember things about them. What’s your dog’s name, what’s you favorite color, things like that – the little things that your girlfriend would know.

(213): Seeing that the film had a lot of improvisational, what did the script look like and what were you given to work with?

Sasha Grey: It was about a fifteen-page outline. I would say each scene was there, but it wasn’t really a script. It might say ‘Sex Scene with Client B’, but there’s obviously no sex in the film, so we would get to set and look at that outline. Sometimes we would pick up the daily newspaper and if there’s something that jumped out at us, especially because we started shooting literally the day after the economy crashed, we would pick things from current events that we felt related to our characters.

(213): Has the crossover between adult and mainstream films been difficult?
SG: I’ve kind of been taking it in baby steps right now because my manager and I agreed that we should wait for the film to come out before we go knocking on people’s doors (laughs), so that process will start very soon. But I think people have been very accepting of it just because they hear Sasha Grey alongside Steven Soderbergh and they’re like if he took this chance on her then maybe we can. But I don’t think I’ll be cast as Zach Efron’s girlfriend in his next movie – I don’t think I’ll be in a teen movie and I’m okay with that.

(213): With this film are you going to transition out of the porn industry and concentrate on mainstream films?

Sasha Grey: Right now I want to do both. I think it’s unprecedented that a woman from the adult industry has been able to juggle both at the same time. So I think the climate is right and I think that if people enjoy what I do outside of adult films that there is room for growth and there is room for opportunity. I’m locked to shoot a film in August – I have the lead role and I don’t play a sex worker. (Laughs) I also have two other scripts that I was just offered that aren’t in preproduction yet, but their looking for casting. Again, they’re both very challenging, very different roles, which I’m really excited about because I think that’s that next obvious evolutional step. Plus I’m shooting my directorial debut inside of the adult world in a week and a half called The Fuck Junkie.

“The Fuck Junkie” the first title for Grey Art, will be released domestically this summer. “The Fuck Junkie” also is Sasha Grey‘s directorial debut. A package will be available with the title altered to “The F@%k Junkie” for places where the original title would be offensive, publicist Brian Gross told XBIZ.

“I’ve waited a long time to sow my seeds as a director, because I wanted to have the perfect platform,” Grey said. “Together Oren and I have created Grey Art as a means to deliver our vision(s) to a varied audience, and I look forward to the continuing challenge of being a modern-day female entrepreneur.”

Grey, 21, who has been a presence in the adult video world since she started performing at 18, most recently made an impression in mainstream as the star of director Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience.”

Cohen said he is looking forward to the collaboration.

“I’m extremely excited to work with Sasha,” Cohen said. “Our visions and esthetic sensibilities are remarkably similar. The nature of our partnership feels incredibly natural and positive, far more positive than anything else I’ve encountered in the adult space. It’s great to have a partner in crime on this strange journey”

A new website, TheFuckJunkie.com, will be launched to coincide with the release of the company’s first title.

Other plans for the company have not been announced.

LOS ANGELES — The mainstream press can’t get enough of porn ingénue Sasha Grey. The adult star is riding a wave of national recognition for her starring turn in the Steven Soderbergh-directed “The Girlfriend Experience,” which premiered last night at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Rolling Stone, which has taken note of Grey before by featuring her in its 2008 Hot List, has gone more in-depth in its latest issue with a full profile on her, written by Vanessa Grigoriadis who describes Grey as a Kate Beckinsale lookalike and “the smartest person I’ve ever met in that industry.”

Calling her the “avenging angel of porn” and the “dirtiest girl in the world” Grigoriadis mentions Grey’s famous friends (rockers Dave Navarro and Billy Corgan), her taste in cinema and music and her larger aspirations after porn.

“She is not that interested in a lot of the porn she shoots anymore,” Grigoriadis told Rolling Stone’s Rock & Roll Daily. “She said, ‘I don’t need to see genitalia up close; I don’t need to see a dirty yellow couch against a white wall. I want to see something different, like this is not exciting to me.’”

Grigoriadis also compares Grey’s perspective on her profession and its impact to that of pop star Taylor Swift in that both women are precocious, ambitious and believe what they are doing is good for all women “even though Sasha’s case is completely different than Taylor’s.”

“To me, what’s most important about her is her impact on feminism,” Grigoriadis said. “Porn has been one of feminism’s most divisive issues because it hits on such a raw level to so many woman. Here are the fantasies of men, and it’s of course better to live out those fantasies through pornography than to try to do them in the real world, but the fact is the real world is impacted by it. Grey says, ‘If you look at me and you think ‘Here’s a woman who’s intelligent, cognizant and making her own choices, and you still tell me that what I’m doing is wrong, screw you, because that should end the debate.’”
