Fans attending the World Cup have been warned to “prepare their will” if they choose to dabble with prostitutes in South Africa.
Almost six million South Africans are HIV-positive – the highest number 
of any country in the world.
The London Evening Standard reports that as many as half of the country’s sex workers could have the disease, and that travelling fans should beware the temptations on offer over the next month.
The newspaper quotes Georgina Boswell, an English community nurse based in South Africa, as saying: “Our HIV problem is massive. Don’t get involved with these sex workers! Don’t even go there! And if you do, make sure you’ve prepared your will.”
A separate report in TIME magazine has put the figure on the number of AIDS orphans at 1.4million, while there are almost 40,000 children working in the sex trade in the country.
